Important Note: This Privacy Policy applies only to the hosted version of OpenShortPath (OpenShortPath Cloud). If you self-host the open-source version of OpenShortPath, this privacy policy does not apply to you.
At OpenShortPath Cloud, we are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our service.
Information We Collect
Information You Provide
When you use OpenShortPath Cloud, we collect information that you provide directly to us, including:
- Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address and any other information you choose to provide through our authentication provider, Clerk.
- URL Information: We collect information about all the URLs you create, including the original destination URLs, shortened link identifiers, and any custom aliases you choose.
- Payment Information: When you subscribe to our paid service, we collect payment receipts and transaction information from Stripe, our payment provider. We do not store your full payment card details, as these are handled securely by Stripe.
Information We Collect Automatically
- Link Analytics: We keep a record of link analytics, including click counts, timestamps, geographic location data, and device information. This analytics collection is optional and can be opted-out for each individual link if you wish to disable tracking.
- Usage Data: We collect information about how you interact with our service, including pages visited, features used, and time spent on the platform.
- Technical Data: We collect technical information such as IP addresses, browser type, operating system, and device information.
Information from Third-Party Services
- Authentication Data: We use Clerk as our authentication provider. Clerk may collect and process authentication-related information in accordance with their privacy policy.
- Payment Data: We receive payment receipts and transaction information from Stripe in accordance with their privacy policy.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide and Maintain the Service: We use your information to create and manage your shortened links, maintain your account, and provide customer support.
- Process Payments: We use payment information from Stripe to process subscriptions and maintain our paid service.
- Improve Our Service: We analyze usage patterns and analytics data to improve our service, develop new features, and enhance user experience.
- Communicate with You: We may use your email address to send you service-related notifications, updates, and respond to your inquiries.

Link Analytics and Opt-Out
Link analytics tracking is optional. For each link you create, you can choose to:
- Enable Analytics: Track clicks, geographic data, device information, and other analytics metrics
- Disable Analytics: Opt-out of analytics tracking for that specific link
You can change this setting for any link at any time through your account dashboard. When analytics are disabled, we will not collect or store analytics data for that link.
Information Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:
Service Providers
We share information with trusted third-party service providers who assist us in operating our service:
- Clerk: We use Clerk for authentication services. Your authentication data is processed by Clerk in accordance with their privacy policy.
- Stripe: We use Stripe for payment processing. Payment information is processed by Stripe in accordance with their privacy policy.
Legal Requirements
We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g., a court or government agency).
Business Transfers
If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

Account Deletion
You can choose to delete your account at any time by emailing us at hello@openshortpath.com. Upon receiving your deletion request, we will:
- Delete your account and associated personal information
- Delete all shortened links associated with your account
- Delete analytics data associated with your links
- Process the deletion within a reasonable timeframe (typically within 30 days)
Please note that some information may be retained for legal or regulatory purposes, or if it has been anonymized and cannot be associated with you.
Analytics Opt-Out
As mentioned above, you can opt-out of analytics tracking for individual links through your account dashboard.
Cookies and Tracking Technologies
We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to track activity on our service and hold certain information. You can instruct your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. However, if you do not accept cookies, you may not be able to use some portions of our service.
Children's Privacy
Our service is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you become aware that a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us, and we will take steps to delete such information.
International Data Transfers
Your information may be transferred to and maintained on computers located outside of your state, province, country, or other governmental jurisdiction where data protection laws may differ. By using our service, you consent to the transfer of your information to facilities located outside your jurisdiction.
